Troubleshooting

Forge I/O: "No pairing found" after install

Click Pair Device… in the Forge Link menu bar icon on your Mac. A 6-digit code will appear — enter it in the Forge I/O app on your iPhone to complete pairing.

Forge I/O: Status bar shows "Disconnected" on iPhone

Verify the Mac daemon is running (forgeio-daemon status). Confirm Node.js 18+ is installed. If the daemon is running, force-quit and reopen the iOS app to trigger a reconnect.

Forge I/O: Push notifications not arriving

Go to iOS Settings → Forge I/O → Notifications and confirm notifications are enabled. Check Settings → Focus — Focus modes can suppress notifications. Allow Forge I/O in your Focus settings.

Forge I/O: Terminal garbled or slow on first open

Normal on first connection — scrollback history loads on open. Subsequent opens are instant. If the terminal stays garbled, swipe down to dismiss and re-open to reset the xterm buffer.

Forge I/O: "Waiting for Mac" screen on iPhone

The relay is connected but the Mac daemon isn't responding. Either the daemon stopped, or your Mac went to sleep. Start the daemon via the Forge Link menu bar app, or run forgeio-daemon start. The app reconnects automatically — no need to refresh.

How do I update the Forge I/O daemon?

Run npm update -g forgeio-daemon then restart via the Forge Link menu bar app. The iOS app and daemon are backwards-compatible within major versions.
